Local mission work in our community is vital to FUMC as it embodies the our commitment to living out faith through service and outreach. Our community work reflects the Wesleyan principle of social justice by actively working to alleviate poverty and address systemic issues.

 
 
Shepherd’s Heart
Shepherd’s Heart has been a joint partnership between area churches and community volunteers dedicated to serving the Taylor community since 1993. Our congregation regularly supports this program through both service at and donations to the food pantry.
 
Vacation Bible School
VBS serves as a crucial local ministry by providing children in the community with an engaging and educational environment centered on Christian teachings. It offers a unique opportunity for churches to connect with families, foster a sense of community, and introduce children to the values of faith in a fun and interactive way. VBS also strengthens the church’s role in nurturing young believers and building relationships with local families. Through creative activities, stories, and songs, VBS helps children develop a deeper understanding of their faith and encourages them to participate in the church community.
 
Summer In The Park
Formerly known as Midnight Basketball, the program is an opportunity for students to stay connect when school was closed for the summer. It is a place to meet, eat, and enjoy each other’s company. FUMC is a sponsor for this community event every summer.
 
Pumpkin Patch
The pumpkin patch event functions as a vibrant local ministry by providing a community-centered activity that brings people together and supports the church’s outreach efforts. This annual event creates a welcoming atmosphere where families and neighbors can enjoy festive activities, purchase pumpkins, and engage in fun, seasonal traditions. It offers an opportunity for the church to connect with the local community, build relationships, and share the message of faith in an informal, accessible setting. The proceeds from the pumpkin patch often support various church programs and local charities, amplifying its impact.
